This page was designed for patients that want to know a little more. Wisdom teeth removal is one of the most common procedures that we perform. The third molar
AKA Wisdom teeth are the last teeth in the mouth. As our diets have changed and become softer over time, our jaws have become smaller. This makes it more difficult
for these teeth to make it in a proper position in the mouth. The main reason that these are removed is because they are in a bad position which makes them difficult
to clean. This results in cavities and infections. In some rare cases patient may develop cysts around these teeth. In simple cases your dentist may opt to remove these teeth with local anesthesia. If they referred you to an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon that usually means they are going to be difficult to remove. But dont worry, we will do our best to make it as easy as possible.
The goal at our office is to get you to heal as fast as possible after the surgery and with the minimal to no pain post operatively! During the procedure the majority of
the patient opt to go to sleep. Most patients will remember nothing but the ride home. Perhaps you have seen some of those funny videos. But lets get back to the
learning, for simplicity, we will classify your wisdom teeth as mild, moderate, severe or lets brings some other doctors in to see this (complicated). So lets take a look at the examples of different xrays of each classification. First, we will point out some basic things to look for of an xray.
